To use the wooden launching plates - per the video below - remove the black rubber pin-guard from the top plate, insert the pin in the tiny hole in the bottom of the moon, hold the bottom plate under the top plate and set the moon with both plates on top of the base.  Then move the moon and plates around slightly until the base grabs the moon, slide the bottom plate out from under the top plate, lower the top plate to remove the pin from the moon, and then carefully slip the top plate out to leave the moon floating free.
